Position Summary: The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.

Western Carolina University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Health and Wellness. This position is an integral member of the leadership team of the Division of Student Affairs which includes: Admissions, Auxiliaries, Bookstore, Campus Activities, Campus Services, Counseling & Psychological Services, Campus Recreation & Wellness, Cat Card, Dining Services, Financial Aid, Greek Student Engagement & Development, Health Services, lnterCultural Affairs, Kneedler Child Development Center, Orientation, Marketing & Assessment, Print & Mail Services, Residential Living, Scholarships, Student Affairs Office, Student Community Ethics.

The Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Health and Wellness reports to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. This Associate Vice Chancellor position is responsible for providing leadership, administration, and general supervision for the departments, and/or functions of Campus Recreation and Wellness, Counseling and Psychological Services, Health Services, and Wellness Education. In addition, this position facilitates the Student Concern Response Team, the Absence Notification process, coordinates WCU Strategic Plan wellness initiatives, and serves on WCU committees representing health and wellness initiatives. This position's responsibilities are directed by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and may change as needs arise.

The Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Health and Wellness is a highly visible member of the university community who interacts across divisional lines and within the local community. The successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively with all segments of the university community through education, consultation, advisement, and referral. The Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Health and Wellness supports growth, development, and academic success for all students and is expected to provide programs and services that meet the needs of those students. The anticipated starting date for the position is December 1, 2023.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position:

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must hold a masters degree in counseling, wellness, student affairs, higher education, or a related field with a relatable specialization. Candidates should have at least 8 years of progressive administrative experience in higher education including service in a director-level position. Experience managing in a large complex environment with extensive budgets is required. Candidates should demonstrate strong evidence of progressive leadership experience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills including strong supervision skills, policy development and oversight, budgetary experience, and organizational assessment skills.

Preferred Qualifications: A terminal degree is a preferred qualification.
